Captain was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan by parents who were artists - his mom was a painter and his dad was a sculptor. He got his degree in Art at Michigan State University. He loves sculpting, painting, pointillism, and a hundred other art forms. He began tattooing around the age of 35 to get into art, after becoming totally fed up with the same-old same-old of working a routine job. He trained under Shane Hartline at Evermore as well as various artists at Inked Expressions, and then decided to open his own studio. Captain has a Blue Throated Macaw named Sailor for which the shop is named. He has ambitions to change the landscape of tattoo shops by incorporating digital means to minimize the waste of paper and wait times. He approaches art with integrity, making sure that the client is not only happy with the product, but also educated about how the process should work and what measures we take to protect them and aftercare. He is happily married to Tina Devious, our shop manager.
